Your data stays yours

Delete your account

You can delete your NextChapter account at any time, right from the app. If you no longer have the app, you can ask us to do it by email. Either way, deletion is permanent and can't be undone.

NextChapter is made by NextChapter Books LLC.

Delete in the app

1. Open NextChapter and sign in.
2. Tap the Profile tab.
3. Tap Delete account near the bottom of the page.
4. Tap Delete account again to confirm.

Your account is deleted right away and you're signed out on every device.

Delete by email

If you've uninstalled the app or can't sign in, email nextchapterappsocial@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my NextChapter account." Send it from the email address you use to sign in, so we know the account is yours. We'll delete it and reply to let you know it's done.

Delete some data, keep your account

You can change your name, bio, photo, and location under Profile, then Edit profile, and remove books from your little library yourself. We can also delete any of the following without closing your account:

• Your profile photo or bio
• The text of the messages you sent
• Books in your little library
• Wrap-ups you wrote
• Your place ratings
• Feedback you sent us
• Your waitlist signup (name, email, and ZIP code)

Email nextchapterappsocial@gmail.com from the email address you use to sign in, and tell us what to remove. We'll reply to let you know it's done.

What gets deleted

• Your email address, name, bio, profile photo, and location.
• The text of every message you sent.
• Your little library, except books tied to a past or cancelled swap, which are hidden from everyone.
• Your wrap-ups, the wrap-ups others wrote about you, and your place ratings.
• Your notification settings, device push tokens, and the people you blocked.

Any pending or scheduled swaps are cancelled, and your swap partner is told the swap ended.

What we keep

So the people you swapped with keep an accurate history, records of past swaps stay in our database: which books were swapped, when, and the meeting place you agreed on. They no longer carry your name or contact details. Your partners see you as "Deleted User."

Feedback you sent us is kept, but is no longer linked to your account.

Just want a break?

You don't have to delete your account to step away. You can sign out, turn off notifications under Profile, then Manage notifications, or remove books from your little library so nobody can request them.
