Signing in

How do I sign in?

NextChapter doesn't use passwords. Enter your email address and we'll send you a sign-in link. Open the email on the same phone and tap the button to sign in.

My sign-in link didn't arrive

Give it a minute, then check your spam or promotions folder. Make sure the email address you entered is spelled correctly. If it still hasn't shown up, request a new link from the sign-in screen.

It says my link is invalid or expired

Sign-in links expire after 15 minutes and work only once. Request a new link and tap the newest email.

Swapping books

How does a swap work?

  1. Add books you're willing to trade to your little library, by searching or scanning the barcode.
  2. Browse the shelves of readers near you and request a book, offering something from your shelf in return.
  3. The owner picks the book they want from your offer.
  4. Agree on a meeting spot and time in the chat, then meet in person and swap.

Where should we meet?

Somewhere public. We suggest libraries, cafés, and bookstores near you both, and libraries come first: they're funded largely by how much they get used, so every swap helps keep your branch open.

How do I cancel a swap?

Open the chat for that swap, tap the menu at the top, and tap Cancel swap. Your swap partner is told the swap ended.

I don't see anyone near me

We're opening one area at a time, starting in Denver. If you're somewhere else, it may be quiet for a while. The more readers who join near you, the more books on the shelf, so tell your book club.

Safety

How do I block someone?

Open their library or your chat with them, tap the menu in the top corner, and tap Block. Blocking hides you from each other's shelves, feed, and swaps. To undo it, go to Profile, then Blocked readers.

How do I report someone?

Email nextchapterappsocial@gmail.com with their name and what happened. If you ever feel unsafe during a meetup, leave and contact local authorities.

Your account

How do I change my name, photo, or location?

Go to Profile, then Edit profile.

How do I turn off notifications?

Go to Profile, then Manage notifications.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile and tap Delete account. For other options and what happens to your data, see Delete your account.
